I like Ptooma productions "The Complete Glock Reference Guide" . Mo' betta than the "official" Glock Armorers manual:wink: Has a fun Glock torture test!

Also available in CD format...

Re: The Unofficial Glock Armourer's Manual

I am a certified Glock armorer, I have both manuals, and I still prefer the Ptooma version.

It is available to anyone, contains all the information in the factory manual and much more--historical timeline, a list of agencies that issue, which models they do, shooting techniques, customizing information, legal information, and the aforementioned torture test.

To attend the Glock Armorers class and receive certification you must have an FFL, be commissioned LE, or an employee or representative of a Glock stocking dealer...not everyone can meet these qualifications..

...and yes, the instructor asks you before the class begins.

OR, attend the gunsmithing school I did and they come to YOU. Once a year. That's where I got my training from. They also give you all the historical stuff, the list of agencies and models. And for either one year or two years after you graduate (my memory fails me), they will basically sell you any TWO models of your choice for their cost. They didn't mention shooting techniques, legal information or the torture test (this was 1998).

The shooting techniques and legal stuff I picked up when I got my certification from the NRA Instructors course (pistol, rifle, home defense and personal protection) - a certification I keep current. Yeah, they came to the shool ALSO.

I let the Glock armorer's cert slide, as Glock hasn't changed their manufacturing techniques or materials as far as I'm aware of. So that info is kind of 'static' for now.

Some folks like to think I spent more than 14 months of my life, 8 hours a day, five days a week wasting more than $17000 on an education that was useless. How little THEY actually know. And it's ALWAYS a pleasure to meet another gunsmith Silver City. Did the Glock teacher show your their secret handshake. It's an inside joke. Or at least it used to be.

SC, I've got a question for you. No doubt you have read at least one or two of my posts. Do I INTENTIONALLY mislead these people?

You mean the secret Masonic handshake? :D No, but he did shake my hand...I think maybe he was grateful 'cuz I was the only one willing to sit next to the fumble-fingered, middle-aged, long-haired (wish still I had that much hair), hippie FFL holder, who wanted to be an armorer---nice guy--I just had to help him alot.

No I don't think you mislead people...someone just seems to have an axe to grind...I'll stay out of it.

People into firearms do have opinions...:D

Re: The Unofficial Glock Armourer's Manual

SC,
See, that's the big difference. In my class, there were forty gunsimthing students. Everyone was 'up' for this class.

Our instructor joked about 'the secret' handshake. It went like this...

He removes his Glock 21 from it's holster on his waist. He drops the empty mag and shows everyone it's empty and sets it on the table. He then locks the slide open and shows us all an empty chamber. He then releases the slide, twirls the Glock 360 degrees on his index finger, slaps the mag in and returns it into it's holster. Happened fairly fast, so he'd done it at least a few times.

Thanks for the honesty. I do try to give straight forward info. But I do miss some things once and a while. And I give kudos to those who 'straighten' me out.

Axes to grind are like you said, best left out of it...

You think firearm OWNERS are opinionated? Try a room full of gunsmiths. WE ARE a severely opinionated group FOR SURE.

I'm probably one of the worst and would be the first to admit I can be a huge @sshat when it comes to firearms. But I never just spout stuff. I always do my research before ever opening my mouth.

Keeps my 'oh craps' to a minimum. Does not eliminate them.
